Doulas are your best friends for birth. We want to hear all your dreams and desires for you experience. If you don't know what you want, we help you figure that out and get a sense of direction.

What is a doula?

Doulas provide informational , emotional support and physical support.

​When your doctor says "Your GBS test is positive" & carries on, you might think, "what does that mean?" Good news, your doula will help answer that question and figure out if you have other questions for your doctor after that. This is what we mean by informational support. Or when labour begins and you need to know "is this normal, should we go to the hospital now, when do I call my midwife?"   

Doulas are a constant in your birth experience, in a system that has frequent staff changes and care providers that need to care for many other people at one time. Connecting with your doula allows you to feel safe and secure knowing one person is there, solely for you. As your doula, I will use that connection to understand your wishes and desires and help provide tools and resources to better help you meet your goals. We use this connection and can tell when you might not be feeling confident or safe anymore or that you need a change in what is occurring. Doula's will help you more effectively communicate with the staff and care providers, without speaking for you. This is emotional support. 

​The physical support helps with the practical side of labouring, comfort measures like position suggestions, massage, running of a bath, water, nutrition, rest all while keeping in mind what your goals and desires for you experience are.  If you choose to have a home birth, your doula is there to make sure you have constant support while waiting for the rest of the birth team to arrive.

There is no doula that can save you. That is not my goal or desire.  I know, YOU already have all you need to have the experience you desire. What I also know is that we don't live in a place that the power within you is respected. I will help you to harness that energy & power that lives inside YOU. That does not live within me.  This is your day to be the powerhouse you are meant to be. I am there to remind you of that and help set you up for success. 

You will be provided with a copy of Your Birth Experience (YBE) Childbirth Parents Guide and I will do an overview of the guide and the program. YBE helps you discover the unique aspects about your personality and decision-making processes that will help guide you in making the best decisions for your birth experience. You will engage the power of positive imagery by envisioning your experience and making a birth plan to meet your needs.

We would meet for a minimum of two prenatal appointments. There is dialogue on the telephone and email communication between our appointments and after care provider appointments as needed.  Remember, I will become your best friend so sending me all the updates is welcome! 

Emotional reassurance, physical comfort and informational support from the beginning of labour is provided. I will join you during active labor, or sooner if requested, stay with you for the delivery of baby & I will stay with you during your first breastfeeding experience to provide assistance and encouragement.

After the birth we would have a visit to reflect on the birth experience, have me answer questions you might have, general overall health and wellness check in.

Investment in doula services is $975. 25% down payment to retain the spot. The remainder is due by 36 weeks. Payment plans can be arranged if needed. Open dialogue about this is welcome!
