Hi, I’m Kim Smith, a lactation consultant, retired doula, and mom of four.
Feeding your baby shouldn't come with guilt, pressure, or guesswork — just real support from someone who gets it. For nearly 18 years, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside families through every stage of their feeding journeys — from those early, overwhelming first days, to navigating challenges like latch difficulties, pumping, combination feeding, and beyond. This hands-on experience has shaped my holistic, non-judgmental approach, where your baby’s needs and your well-being are both prioritized. I understand that every family’s path is unique, and my goal is to provide practical, compassionate guidance tailored to you and your baby, so you can feel more confident and supported every step of the way.
Before becoming an IBCLC, I worked as a medical laboratory technologist, giving me a solid foundation in clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice. For 10 years, I offered birth doula support alongside my lactation work, which gave me a deep, whole-picture understanding of how pregnancy, birth, and early parenting all affect breastfeeding and infant feeding outcomes.
Whether you’re nursing, pumping, bottle-feeding, or still figuring it out — I meet you where you are. My support considers the physical, emotional, and practical sides of feeding. It’s never one-size-fits-all.
I'm passionate about education and advocacy. I've developed programs and resources for new parents, and I stay deeply involved in the lactation community through ongoing training and research. I regularly attend professional conferences and participate in initiatives that advance breastfeeding support.
I’ve also held several leadership roles with the Canadian Lactation Consultant Association (CLCA) and the Saskatchewan Lactation Consultant Association (SLCA), where I currently serve as Vice-Chair.
I’m a chai tea latte lover, a mom of four, and someone who believes that parents need less pressure and more support. My clients often tell me I bring a sense of calm to the chaos — and honestly, that might be the best compliment I could ask for.
